I would like to know what percentage of supplemented horses win the race they are entered into.
Answer: This information is not generally available on databases available to the public. It may be possible to track supplemented entries using a software such as Raceform Interactive.
However I suspect the percentage to be 30%+ as the trainer will obviously be confident that his horse will stand a good chance of recouping the additional cost involved in entering the horse.
Two examples who won their supplemented races are:
1. Kingston Hill who won £149,714 for winning the Racing Post Trophy in October 2013, which cost the owner Paul Smith a fee of £17,500
2. Here Comes When in the Qatar Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in 2017 who was supplemented by his trainer Andrew Balding in the belief that the soft ground would suit his horse.
