WHY IS IT THAT THE TOP SPOT RATING IS ALWAYS 78 IN THE DAILY MAIL.

IN THE DAILY MIRROR THE SPOT FORM RATING COULD BE FROM 50 TO 130.

WHY IS THIS DIFFERENT RATING ALLOWED

Answer: According to David August, racing editor of the Daily Mail, the Formcast top-rating has always been 78.

This is just a figure that has been in existence since 1957 and is in fact a registered trademark.

It has no other significance than that.

I have analysed the ratings over a number of years and found and the NH ratings far more successful. Take note of those top ratings of 78 in handicaps where the next best rating is 76 or less.

I totally disagree with Mel regarding the Daily Mail ratings. I think they are one of the best not poorest. Who does he reckon is best? Perhaps I may then change my mind.

I think the formcast selections in the DAILY MAIL are the most loosing
