Horse racing enthusiasts sometimes wistfully ask me how to become a racehorse owner, expecting me to tell them it's very expensive.

However I am now able to tell them that anyone can become an owner for a day - which is no more expensive than a good day out at the races.

This is made possible through a service offered by my good friend and paddock watcher Dee Thompson.

Here are the details:

I wanted to try the service myself and asked if it was possible at my nearest racecourse of Newton Abbot.

Dee offered to get me a runner there on Sunday 18th July 2021.

The cost would be £90 per head to include entrance to owners and trainers facilities plus food plus owners experience of access to parade ring to meet trainer and jockey.

If the horse won the race, entry to winners enclosure and presentation of prize, followed by a celebratory free drink while watching a replay of the race.

I was planning to go with my sister but she was unable to go so we will try again later in the year.

Looking forward to it!!
