Trying to pull up NY race horse stomach but he has a gut!
He's in SUPPLEMENT and he in the stable he has his worm out but still his gut there.
I work out my horse but still a gut.I try get him ready for a 3fl but it is hard.
Answer: For a horse with a large stomach, when medical issues have been ruled out ( eg worms, foal, fluid ) it is usually lack of muscle in the core.
Perhaps the horse is not ‘using’ himself correctly.
I would be doing lots of slow canter work encouraging the head into a lower position so that the back is rounded upwards and the hind legs are more underneath ie ‘working over the back’ similar when walking.
This is of more benefit than trot or gallop work.
Hill work is also good.
