He followed this up with a thrilling win at the same course at the start of February. He took on his stable mate Aramon and fought out the finish under Ruby Walsh who had made the decision to ride Klassical Dream in preference to Aramon.

"The Denman Chase at Newbury on Saturday gives us a head to head between Clan Des Obeaux and Native River who finished 1st and 3rd respectively in the King George VI Chase on boxing day and whoever comes out on top will strengthen their position in the Gold Cup market, my money is on last years Gold Cup winner Native River."
