Hi

I hope you have had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to the year ahead. The staff were thoroughly spoilt, as were we, by our owners and so a big thanks!

A bit of a problem with Secret Santa – not sure the staff understood how it worked! We got there in the end tho. Amanda came to the Christmas Eve get together and is much better – expecting to see a specialist in January and hoping they will cut short her time off sick ( Not sure this will happen ).

Christmas morning saw Frank, Jamie, Caitlin and I sorting the horses before enjoying the rest of the days festivities.

The down side of the week was losing Wild Polly – the Point to Pointer that we loaned from Rose Dobbin. We think she picked up an infection in her elbow at the PTP – despite an Op we could not save her – that put a dampener on the week. Bekah was heart broken as Polly had taught her so much, however she has rides lined up on the 5th January so hopefully the start of better things ahead for her.

Today we took Wee Alki for his 4th run – 3rd over hurdles so should get his handicap mark a week Tuesday. Ridden by Nathan it was a hot Novice with Dan Skelton having the favourite rated 123 – I think we were 100/1 Wee A jumped very well and started to catch them at the end of the race – just touched off by a head to be 5th.

I said I would be delighted if he was 4th/5th so delighted I am. I doubt he will be a Cheltenham horse but I do look forward to his first handicap in his grade.

Josh and his friend own him and our 6 month lease is almost finished – I would like to see him in a handicap and if he does well I will consider maybe buying him back for the yard – I know some of you are interested – we will see how he progresses and comes out of his race – he wont cost a fortune but fair to all if he goes to the sales ( 20th January at Doncaster).

Meanwhile the other horses are ready to go –
