So Redcar abandoned due to water logged ground grrr so Mekbat goes to Newcastle next Saturday – as Sheila points out Ladies Day followed by Ronan Keating – just the right day to take two Two year olds to Newcastle for a stalls Trial......

This week we have been practicing Two year olds through our stalls and they are doing very well. The vets came from Glasgow to do an overground scope on Konik King to ensure his wind op was ok after his lack lustre run at Hexham – but all was well so I guess he just had a bad day!

Yesterday it rained and rained at Market Rasen! A long day but a succesful one. Cousu really looked an improving horse ridden by Craig Nichol who said next time he will have him handier as he now trusts that Cousu will settle in his race. Beaumesnil with Nathan Moscrop looked every inch the winner till he got squashed and threw his toys out of the pram! Still both 4th and two very promising horses as we learn what makes them tick.

Owners Open Day 12th August – 2pm – its great to see that we will be having a raffle and an Auction with truly Unique Prizes – Pictured below is a 38'' x 26'' framed pair of Breeches signed by all of the jockeys attending the British Champions day at Royal Ascot in 2021. The idea of our own Les Waugh to raise monies for Cancer Charities. It is something money can only buy once! We also have an original pastel of 'Back to The Stables – Hexham, Spring by Jay Boyd Kirkman – an American Artist living here and you will have seen him racing in the North. His style is unique and we have David Thompson to thank for organising this amazing piece of Artwork ( attached ) . Bids will be taken by email for those of you who cant make the Open Day as these are two super special 'once in a lifetime' gifts.
