Hi Susan Corbett's Newsletter: Slowly back into work this week after the ‘mid season break’ also known as the big freeze! At last the ‘yearlings’, all officially 1 year old on the 1st January, got out in the field and let off some steam. Youngsters are being handled, and horses are back online for various races kicking off on Friday & Saturday at Doncaster. Before that its Doncaster again with the sales on Tuesday. Infinite Honour is Lot 7 and we have had a bit of interest in him so far. Jamie and I will be going down and we are also on the look out for a Racing Club horse. We set off tomorrow to get him settled before Tuesday. So back racing and some exciting horses to look forward to – Atomic Angel just short of work waits till Sedgefield. Velasco after his wind op heads for Doncaster 1lb over top weight but he is a big horse and should be fine – so interesting to see what the wind op has done for him. Saturday sees two big races in the River Don 3 mile Novice for maybe Sunset Hill followed by the Yorkshire Rose Mares race for Pinot – both would like some rain please. Sunny may also go in the Mares – watching entries tomorrow and the rain! The following week we hope to have a few out on the 28th at Newcastle and on the 2nd there is a good meeting at Musselburgh with good prize money which reminds me….. I was at a meeting at Johnsons yard this week with Peter Saville ex BHA chair and owner of Plumpton racecourse. He has spent the last year asking racecourses nicely to put 33% of their Racing Revenue back into racing prize moeny – 50% do and 50% ignore the pleas such as Catterick, Newmarket, Ascot and Wetherby. So the plan is a boycott of 2 monthly races to concentrate the racecourses in giving Owners and Trainers a fair prize money value. Luckily for us the Catterick ( being the first meeting chosen ) is not Champs race! So it will be interesting to see how that unfolds… Dates 21st Goffs Sales 23rd Doncaster – Velasco 24th Pinot Rouge & Sunset Hill Susan email:girsonfield@outlook.com Tel: 7713651215 https://girsonfield.co.uk/ Enjoy, Chris Photo: Back to work after the freeze |
