Hi

A very mixed week with the highlight being the delivery of the new gallop fibre which means the Gallop is now up and running again!

Nothing is easy so we were stuck behind the lorry on our lane with the Hexham runners while the lorry was stuck on the corner!

So Jamie and Josh did a quick job on the neighbours overhanging branches with a chain saw to free the lorry!

Josh then unloaded it in the dark and the next day Jamie and the girls laid and raked it – team work! Although we have kept up the fitness on the circle both Horses and riders find the gallop a lot easier!

Back a step to Carlisle where Pinot was given a very positive ride by Nathan over a shorter distance than she would need and on ground too fast – but she still made an excellent account of herself and its all for the good of her education!

Les's Legacy was still hampered by his wind so we are having a look at that with the Dick Vet this week – Velasco is on the same list – we have a lot of expertise on the doorstep!

Meanwhile Wee Alki made his debut over hurdles which was a big learning curve for him but he settled after the first couple of hurdles and came in 5th beating 5 – he will improve for that. Sunset Hill did very well – beating the favourite and coming second to a quickly improving Jenny Candlish horse in a hot mares Novice.

Performance of the week went to Beyond the Verge just beaten in the bumper by a well fancied Lucinda Russel horse who reached her 1000 winner at Kelso – Patrick Wadge – her jockey also lost his claim beating us – apparently, they had already opened the Champagne!

BTV was carrying 10 lbs more than Theirs and a stone more than the 3rd horse – so another super star in the making.

Staff

Codey left us to join Maurice Barnes and Caitlin won her 2nd Best turned out in a week! Bekah unlucky not to win hers at Kelso – all good standards.

Jamie and Amanda are doing a part time job at Newcastle Races at Nights to be drivers for our vet – this will give them an excellent insight into veterinary care of the racehorses on track.

We had five horses who have been in sick bay now all sorted and back on the walker – most will be back in full work come 1st December.

We now settle down to hope it rains soon! Most of our horses are now waiting for rain....but as long as the ground is safe we will run them as its pointless them being stood in stables....
