Hi

Susan Corbett's Newsletter (I do look forward to this each week - you get an idea of how hard, (and rewarding) running a stable can be)

Good Afternoon,

Another cold one but at last some heat on the horizon! We have been down to -12 and its been a very tough week for the staff. Trying to get the horses out was just about impossible so we decided to stop, draw breath and give them all a week on the walker. Their fitness should be back in 7 – 10 days and it means that they will have an extended period to race in the Spring – every cloud…

So with the staff not riding, they had time to handle the foals and what a cheeky group we have this year – Clyde is cheeky and the two fillies are just bad! Best crop we have had and Freddies little sister is the double of him. So maybe a bit of attitude does not go amiss and the bruises will soon go lol. We have:-

Clyde =- Colt out of Ebony Rose by Schiaparelli sibling to the 2 older fillies by Schiaparelli and Frontiersman – the 4 year old will be in work over the summer to start her career. Not the biggest but neither was her mum and it did not stop her winning….. for the Nelson Racing Partnership.

Eliza – Bahrikate by Kingston Hill ( Sunset Hiil sire ) looks like a good move now especially if Freddie, Bahrikates first foal now age 4, is as good as we think he is – he is due to run in a bumper in February.

Bonny – Sibling to Les Legacy also by Kingston Hill

We have a few fillies this year to break and bring on but with Sunny and Pinot leading the charge on the yard that’s is not a bad thing! Velasco has had his wind op and will, hopefully be ready for Doncaster on the 24th while the girls head for the 25th at Doncaster. The rest of the horses are all fit and ready to go apart from the Flat ones which have just come into work.

Wee Alki has a handicap mark of 91 and will race at the end of the month at Newcastle 28th –that will be the end of his 6 month lease to the two groups and we will endeavour to buy him for a small partnership – depending on how he runs of course! I expect him to be good now he is in his grade – I have a few people interested so please let me know if you would like more info as the new Partnership will kick off 1st February.

Infinite Honour heads for the sales at Doncaster and we look to buy a horse for the Girsonfield Racing Club – those two things may coincide !

Dates – subject to change as ever!

22nd Catterick Maybe See a stride

23rd Wetherby Atomic, Blame Rose, LL,

24th Doncaster Pinot, Sunny

28th Newcastle Rocky, Kilmore, Wee Alki

31st Catterick Champ

Looking forward to the warmth this next week!

Best regards
