Newsletter - Susan Corbett's Jockey Graham Lee Wins May 07, 2023 |
Hi Susan Corbett's Newsletter (as informative as ever) I will have to say again how delighted we were with Clear Angels victory at Wetherby last Sunday ( I can have 8 days in my week if I want to ! ). Staff Best team ever with Amanda now full time, Donna passed her trial, Jamie as Assistant, Dillan our own Jockey, Josh coming back in a senior role, Emma travelling head girl and winning more than her share of best turned out at the races. I even have Laura ( Joshs Girlfriend ) now helping in the office! Stud Back from Stud yesterday was Morning with Ivan and what a gorgeous foal! That’s four colts she has had now over the years and in foal this time to Kingston Hill as is Bahrikate. So just waiting for Ebony Rose to be back from visiting Schiaparelli. Our herd of two year olds have split into various stages with some having a break to grow while Dandycan is the most forward and will hopefully race by the end of May – stalls trials and racecourse gallop ahead! Various of our horses have had winter breaks and so we will continue through the summer with some jumpers and all of the Flat horses. The rest will get a break, as shown with Ask my Heather and En Meme Temp having fun in the field. Our trip to Newmarket did not buy us a new horse to train – expensive tastes! So we will go to Goffs on 24th May to look further. Velasco has been a difficult horse to train – we knew he had it in him but he is very strong to ride and has disappointed, so some of his shares were sold to me on – yep Friday – I was hoping he did well Saturday but he exceeded expectations by being 2nd – just pipped at the post. So 50% of him will now remain in the Girsonfield Racing Club to replace Devour who is very happy in his new Dressage home. Blame Rose – hated the winter ground and has come back being much stronger – we expected a clear round yesterday and were delighted that she came like a train to be 5th – she was green but we look forward to her next run. An excellent week – 1st, 2nd and 5th and so to next week:- 10th May – Kelso with Wotyoudunnow Buddy best of luck to the very Patient Chris and Gary. 13th May – Hexham with Avoid De Master and Les’s Legacy. Date for your diary 23rd May – we are having a meeting at Hexham Racecourse at 3.15 to discuss a new partnership with Johnny Dogs and Beaumesnil – all welcome please RSVP. 24th May – off to Goffs looking for a summer jumper. Phew that’s all! Susan email:girsonfield@outlook.com Tel: 7713651215 Chris |
